Post-Scan Scoring

In this topic

Task

You can score an existing data file. All you need to do is apply a score profile to the application and data file and click Score.

Procedure

Step 1: Scanning the Tests to Create the Raw Data File

This topic is a continuation of previous topics and again uses the sample tests (but not the keys) that you created earlier.

  1. Ensure that the application and data file we have been using (both named Form 223022 Practice) are still selected. Verify that the new data will replace any existing data by selecting Options > Scanning Options and making sure that Replace is selected in the Data and Output Conversion Files group.
  2. Make sure that there are no edit, score, or conversion profiles selected. The Edit Profile, Score Profile, and Conversion Profile text boxes should each show <None>.
  3. Load the stack of tests (no keys) into the input hopper of the scanner.
  4. Click the Scan button in the ScanTools interface. The sheets should scan and are scored at the same time.
  5. When scanning is complete, click Stop Scanning in the ScanTools interface.

Step 2: Scoring the Tests

Post-scan scoring is a breeze using the following steps. The key data for Subtest Part One and Subtest Part Two are stored in the score profile for this example.

  1. Select the score profile (Form 223022 Practice) that we created and populated with key data in the previous topics.
  2. Click the Score button in the ScanTools interface. The data is immediately scored.

Step 3: Checking the Data File

Use the following steps to verify that the tests were properly scored.

  1. Click the Open button next to the Data File list. The Modify Data File dialog box appears. In it you can view the contents of each record of the data file.
  2. Check to ensure that each test has data for Subtest One, Subtest Two, and Total Score. Use the Serial Number spinner in the lower right corner to page between records.

CAUTION: If you attempt to score a data file that has already been scored, you may receive a warning message that you are about to delete data. You should not re-score a file if any translations have been performed.
