Freelance Opportunities

Item Development Specialist Consultant

Provide expertise in the design and development of custom K-12 educational assessments and formative assessment materials.

Consultants are needed for writing, editing, and revising test items and/or passages that align to the Common Core State Standards, Next Generation Science Standards, or other state standards. In addition, consultants should be prepared to make suggestions concerning cognitive complexity, readability, and grade level appropriateness of items.

Qualified individuals will have:

  • Degree in Mathematics, English, Social Studies, Science or equivalent
  • Excellent editing and/or writing skills
  • Detail oriented with strong time management skills
  • Content development experience
  • Minimum of 3  years of experience in classroom teaching at any grade level
  • Ability to devote necessary time when selected for a project
  • Internet access, PC, and experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Reader, and document transfers via secure sites
  • Experience working in the assessment writing industry required

Bias and Sensitivity Consultant

Provide expertise in the field of bias and sensitivity. Consultants are needed to review test items and/or passages that align to the Common Core State Standards, Next Generation Science Standards, or other state standards including those in the fields of licensing and certification. Qualified individuals will have:

  • Extensive assessment industry experience reviewing content for all bias issues (required)
  • Ability to recognize stereotypes and ensure all groups are represented fairly
  • Exceptional grasp of the English language
  • Detail oriented with strong time management skills
  • Ability to devote necessary time when selected for a project
  • Internet access, email, PC, and experience in Adobe, Microsoft Word, Excel, and document transfers via secure sites
