| Country Language |
Select the language used for the text within the ICR/OCR graybox. Possible values include:

| Character Type | Select the specific type of characters expected in the ICR/OCR graybox.
Possible values vary according to what was selected in the Print Type
field of the Print
Type dialog, and the Country Language in this dialog. In general,
this is where you choose numbers, alphabet, and symbols. When you select a specific character type, the Characters field (discussed below) is updated with a list of the supported characters. |
| Customize Type | Check here to delete any of the characters listed in a standard character set for the type you selected. This lets you restrict the characters to only what is expected in the ICR/OCR graybox. Customizing the type can speed up the conversion process. |
| Characters |
This field shows the standard set of characters for the Character Type you selected above. When you check Customize Type, you can delete characters from this list to create a custom character list. Delete characters using the Delete key. After you delete a character, it is permanently deleted; you cannot re-enter any characters. To restore a modified character set, select a different character set then reselect the one you previously modified. NOTE: A character set must contain at least one character. You can highlight and delete multiple characters, provided at least one character remains. If you try to highlight and delete all characters, no characters are deleted. |
| Punctuation Present |
Select if text in the ICR/OCR graybox can or will contain punctuation marks. Clear the checkbox to indicate that text in the field contain no punctuation marks at all. The Punctuation Present option resolves ONLY commas and periods. NOTE: A space is added after each comma and period in an ICR/OCR graybox if both of the following are true:
For ICR/OCR graybox fields where commas and periods are used as part of a number, the selected Geometry must be Word to prevent spaces from being added after commas and periods. |
| Context Checking | Check here to allow the recognition engine to use context information and knowledge of the language to resolve data. This uses information about the probability of one alphabetic letter following another, for example the letter u usually follows the letter q. This also helps the engine distinguish between letters and digits that have similar shapes such as (5S, 2Z). |
| Dictionary |
Check here to have the recognized text compared against the contents of a dictionary specified in the Dictionary Name field. When this is checked, you can select a dictionary Name, below. NOTE:A PDF version of the dictionary appears on the installation CD and can be viewed, but not modified. Having access to the contents of the dictionary allows the application developer to verify whether or not expected text is present in the dictionary, thus enabling them to make an informed decision on whether or not to use the Lookup option. If the Lookup option is enabled, the Closest Match mode is most useful when the allowed words in a zone are known by the dictionary. Select the name of the dictionary to be used for the lookup. This is available only if Lookup is enabled. Select which method to use for lookup. This is available only if you selected Lookup. Possible values are:
