This example shows how to delete a data record whose serial number matches a specific value. For more information regarding how the Scantron OLE DB Provider processes delete, see Considerations for updating data with Data Services.
Dim cn As New ADODB.Connection
Dim rs As New ADODB.Recordset
'*** Define the connection string
Dim cnstr As String
cnstr = cnstr & "Provider = Scantron.Oledb;"
cnstr = cnstr & "Data File = c:\program files\pearson ncs\scantools plus\data files\802 sample.dat;"
cnstr = cnstr & "App File = c:\program
files\pearson ncs\scantools plus\applications\z802
cnstr = cnstr & "Mode=Read|Write;"
cnstr = cnstr & "Include NCS Header = true;"
cn.Open cnstr
rs.Open "select * from 1", cn, adOpenDynamic, adLockOptimistic
rs.Find "[Serial Number] = 14"
rs.Delete adAffectCurrent
Note that the same result could have been achieved simply by executing the SQL command "Delete from 1 where [serial number] = 14".
TIP: The example above uses a document number in lieu of a table name. In any command to the Scantron OLE DB Provider , a document number can be used wherever a table name would normally appear. This example also makes use of the "Include NCS Header" connection property, which causes the columns of the NCS Header to be added to the document tables.
