Updates to Scantron K-12 Assessment Solution Provide Flexible Reporting and Scoring

IRVINE, CALIF (August 4, 2008) -Scantron, a leading provider of assessment and survey solutions designed to help education and commercial organizations measure and improve effectiveness, today announced the release of updated Achievement Series and Performance Series® software. The K-12 software assessment solution helps educators meet state and federal requirements and raise the level of student achievement through a unique combination of computer-adaptive diagnostic testing and standards-based formative assessment.

Achievement Series Mirrors State Test Scoring and Streamlines Exports

Achievement Series is a powerful web-based district-wide assessment solution that allows K-12 educators to develop and administer online and paper-based tests, capture immediate results, and produce standards-based reports. With this release, customers have access to streamlined exports of results and a new scoring option to mirror what is used on certain state tests.

Many districts export results to be imported into other systems for further analysis, such as grade books and data warehouses. With this release, users will be able to schedule exports for multiple tests at once and set a frequency for the export if it needs to be run repeatedly. Also, based on the fact that some states weight rubric scores on the state test, a new points assignment section is now available when creating extended response items. Users have the option to change the point values for each rubric rating in order to weight the score if desired. (For example, if a student earns a rating of 4 on a rubric, he may earn 15 points.)

These key additions along with other enhancements improve the flexibility of Achievement Series and the valuable data it provides in order to inform classroom instruction and district-level decisions. For additional information on Achievement Series, click here.

Performance Series Provides Flexible and Immediate Student Report Options

Performance Series provides teachers, administrators and parents with improved access to data to analyze performance and drive instruction. This release for Performance Series includes a brand new Student Profile report printing module and options for data exports. The Profile Reports module allows customization of report data and display choices for printing. Two examples of the new format include a one page graphical summary and a two page detailed report with next steps for instruction. Now, in addition to the data being available immediately, student reports for a variety of uses are just a click away. Additionally, exporting updates provide administrators access to customized data sets for use with other analysis tools and enhances district control over their student assessment data.

Performance Series is a web-based, computer-adaptive diagnostic test that's reliable, valid, and standards-based. Educators use it to pinpoint proficiency levels instantly, place students in the appropriate programs, report progress, and predict performance on high-stakes tests.
