Industry-leading course evaluation system offers expanded capabilities to customize and improve survey processes for enhanced decision making
IRVINE, Calif. (May 22, 2007) - Scantron, a leading provider of testing and survey solutions for the education and financial markets, today announced Class Climate 3.0, the newest evolution of the comprehensive course evaluation system used by colleges, universities and corporate training departments. Combining expanded capabilities with new customization options, Class Climate 3.0 provides fast and accurate processing of both online and paper-based surveys and robust data analysis for improved decision making. "We continually solicit the input of our customers, asking them about our products, future needs they might have, and even their thoughts on trends," said Sal Rahman, vice president of sales for Scantron's higher education business unit. "It's this information that allows us to develop cutting edge upgrades like Class Climate 3.0. As the art and science of course evaluation evolves, so must the tools of implementation. Class Climate 3.0 will most definitely allow universities and corporations, alike, to take their evaluations and their teaching to the next level."
With the release of Class Climate 3.0, Scantron offers several new customization options. Using its new SOAP-based Application Programming Interface (API), Class Climate 3.0 can be integrated with users' existing software applications, allowing high-level interoperability and seamless data exchange. Scantron's Professional Services department also can create custom online survey templates and custom PDF evaluation reports, which can be easily downloaded and installed into the customer's Class Climate system.
Finally, Class Climate 3.0 also allows basic settings, such as colors and fonts, to be customized in online survey templates, enabling users to create a consistent look and feel with other campus or corporate web sites or materials. To help make the most of existing resources, Class Climate 3.0 allows survey questions to be imported from users' databases for paper-based or online surveys.
In addition to enhancing survey development, Class Climate 3.0 offers new features to increase online survey participation, such as multiple reminders and language settings. With Class Climate 3.0, survey administrators can now set multiple survey reminders - with more options for frequency than any other system. To further encourage participation, administrators can now allow participants to view the survey results using their password. In addition, multi-lingual surveys now support non-Latin characters in the survey content to ensure that online survey participants only see text in their native language.
After the survey results have been reported, Class Climate 3.0 allows comments to be added to the instructor reports to enhance communication within and between departments. For example, an instructor may add a comment to course evaluation results that later can be viewed by a dean. This enables users to quickly and easily respond to specific concerns or to offer additional input. Class Climate 3.0 also offers expanded capabilities to support both system level and department level needs. Previously, Class Climate allowed either a system or subunit level report creator to produce reports. Now the system administrator can configure Class Climate for system level reporting access and department level access to create reports for their individual units. In addition, Class Climate 3.0 offers subunit administrators the option to change specific parts of the system configuration - such as PDF reports, email settings and online survey design templates — to better suit the subunit's needs.
